Kenneth Blaine

Kenneth Blaine, 84, of Philpot, passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at his home. He was born on September 10, 1929 in Huntsville, KY to the late Victor and Alma Staples Blaine. Kenneth was retired from G. M. A. C. in the automobile financing Dept. and was a member of the Westside Church of Christ. He attended a one-room school, the Union Chapel School, from the 1st grade through the 8th, and then attended and graduated from the Rochester High School in 1948, both in Butler Co. Kenneth attended David Lipscomb College in Nashville, TN where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration in 1956. While at Rochester High School, he played on the basketball team, where he scored one basket in his playing career.

Throughout his life, he was a member, preached, and taught Bible classes at Westside Church of Christ and Whitesville Church of Christ in Daviess Co. and Huntsville Church of Christ in Butler Co. In his retirement years, he taught Bible classes at the Daviess County Jail and conducted correspondence Bible studies with many people in the Kentucky Prison System. He also farmed in Butler Co. on the weekends. Kenneth served his country in the U. S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He received a citation from the Army stating, "On many occasions, he did the work normally required of two men". He was preceded in death by his wife, Ava Nell Blaine on February 3, 2011 and a sister, Augusta Carlile.

Surviving are three daughters, Sherry (Matt) Hennecke of Louisville, Keitha (Eddie) Ludlam of Bradley, AR, and Jennifer Blaine of Indianapolis, five grandchildren, Alyson Hennecke, Megan (Adam) Greiving, Blaine Whisenhunt, Kenneth (Danielle) Whisenhunt, and Garrett Whisenhunt, three great grandchildren, Kaseden Brown, Peter Greiving, and Carter Greiving, and three brothers, Victor Blaine, Jr. of Clarksville, VA, Jackson Blaine of Huntsville, and Billy (Jean) Blaine of Owensboro.

Services will be 12:30 P.M. Saturday, November 16 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with burial following in Hill Haven Memory Gardens in Morgantown. Visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home.
