Katie Reid Cox

Katie Cox, 96, of Owensboro passed away Monday, November 15, 2010 at her home. Born in Owensboro on October 3, 1914, a daughter of the late Robert Reid, Sr. and Katherine Keeley Reid, she was a graduate of Owensboro High School and attended the University of Kentucky. Mrs. Cox was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and had been a member of the Cotillion Club, the Junior League of Owensboro, the Women's Guild and the board of directors of the Mary Kendall Home. She was preceded in death by her husband, L. S. Cox, Jr.. in 1991, and by her brother, Robert Reid, Jr. and her sister, Mary Reid Roberts.

Her surviving family includes her daughter, Katie Lowing and her husband Larry, of Owensboro; her grandchildren, Robin Shively Byars and her husband Greg of Newbern, TN, Benjamin Shively and his wife Kathy of Winston-Salem, NC, and Caroline Shively Sucher and her husband Robb, of Alexandria, VA; her great-grandchildren, Robert Preston, Katie Byars, Tucker Shively, Brock Shively, and Will Sucher; and her brother, John Reid of Owensboro.

The funeral mass for Mrs. Cox will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at St. Pius X Catholic Church, followed by burial in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. There will be no visitation. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Hospice of Western Kentucky.
