Karen Marie Heim-Baugh, 62 of Evansville, died Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at Indiana University Hospital in Indianapolis. Karen was born in Philadelphia, PA. to the late Frederick and Marie Heim. She attended Murray State University where she received her Bachelor's Degree of Science in 1971, her Masters Degree in 1974, and she was a member there of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. Karen earned her Doctor of Education degree from the University of Kentucky in 2003. She was a speech and hearing pathologist, retiring from the Owensboro City Schools in February 2012.
Karen was Coordinator of Scouting Ministries through Methodist Temple United Methodist Church in Evansville, was a former board member of Buffalo Trace Council, Boy Scouts of America, and had instructed scout leaders and scouts at Philmont Scout Camp in New Mexico. She received the Silver Beaver Award, Silver Torch Award, Torch Ward, Silver Cross Award, Cross and Flame Award and God and Service Recognition through scouting. She was a former Rainbow Girl, and a member of the Eastern Star Lodge. She had organized Colors of Owensboro, and was a past member and president of ARK Crisis Prevention Nursery in Evansville. Karen loved traveling, cooking and basket weaving.
Surviving is her son, Robb Baugh, a grandson, James Baugh, both of Evansville, a sister, Janice (Louie) Pulliam of Owensboro, a nephew, Jay (Kelly) Parker of Louisville, Ky., and Niece, Jill (Justin) Ball of Lexington, Ky. and great-niece, Vivian Parker.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 12, 2012 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. and after 1 p.m. Monday. Interment will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Buffalo Trace Council or to Methodist Temple, Scouting Ministries.
