Julia Elizabeth Barbour

Julia Elizabeth Barbour, 87, of Owensboro, died Wednesday, January 27, 2010, at the Hermitage Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was born January 2, 1923 to the late Floyd and Ethel Mae Helsley Foley in Jefferson County. She was a homemaker, a member of Settle Memorial United Methodist Church, and enjoyed playing bridge, knitting, watching UK basketball and also the NBA.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Lewis Kurre.

Survivors include her children; a son, Martin Foley (Sandy) Barbour of Owensboro, and a daughter, Mary Julia Barbour of Owensboro; two grandchildren, Carey Ann (Patrick) Richmond, and Andrew Preston Barbour; two great-grandchildren, Philip and Julia Richmond; three step-grandchildren, Trey Watson, Melissa Bartling, and Ava Watson; two step-great-grandchildren, Wil Watson and Eric Beckhart.

Services will be 12:00 PM Friday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with burial in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday and after 10:00 AM Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 943, Owensboro, KY 42302.
