Judy N. Shaver,75, of Owensboro, KY, passed away peacefully December 5, 2017, after a brief battle with multiple myeloma. We are confident that Judy's entrance through Heaven's gates was marked by a joyous reunion with her beloved husband, Harold, who preceded her in death three years ago. In addition to her husband, Judy was surely greeted by many other friends and loved ones who have gone before her including her mother, Anyce Brown, and her sister Faye Render.
Judy was born August 19, 1942 and was a lifelong resident of Owensboro. Her greatest joy was becoming a mother to her two sons. Throughout her life, time spent with her boys is what brought her the most happiness. She worked until her retirement at Owensboro Municipal Utilities where, in later years, she discovered the added joys of showing off her granddaughter to all her friends and coworkers at OMU. Faith was an important part of Judy's life and she was a member of Hall Street Baptist Church where she enjoyed a lifetime of sweet fellowship.
Recently Judy shared that she would be glad to go home to Heaven when it was her time. She looked forward to meeting Jesus and often imagined what it might be like to hear the angels sing. Music was always near to Judy's heart, especially at Christmastime. We will certainly miss her charm, smile, strength of will, the special sparkle in her beautiful eyes and even the Christmas candy she was so fond of making and sharing. There is such joy in knowing that Judy has truly gone Home for Christmas.
Judy is survived by her two sons, Michael (Kathy) Shaver, of Owensboro, and David (Derek) Shaver, of Louisville; granddaughter, Amy (Jordan) Ragsdale; great-granddaughter, Emma Cole Ragsdale, all of Murfreesboro, TN; sister-in-law, Dorothy Gray; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services will be 12pm, Friday, December 8, 2017, in the chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Brother Scott Ford officiating. Visitation will be 4pm to 8pm Thursday, and 10am to 12pm on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be beside her precious husband at Elmwood Cemetery.
