Judith Brantley Parr, 75, of Panama City Beach, Florida, formerly of Owensboro, passed away on December 9, 2024 at Aspire at Cahaba River in Vestavia Hills, Alabama. She was born October 24, 1949 in Evansville, Indiana to the late Douglas Lee and Virginia Gossman Brantley. Judie graduated from Daviess County High School in 1967, received her Bachelors and Masters degrees in Psychology from Western Kentucky University, her Juris Doctor degree from Birmingham School of Law in May of 2008, where she graduated at the age of 59 as the Valedictorian.
Judie had worked at Texas Gas, as the owner and president of Parr Trucking Service for over 25 years with her husband Larry, as an attorney and Public Defender for the State of Alabama and a faculty member at the Birmingham School of Law, and had her own law practice, Parr Law. Judie loved spending time with her family and was a devoted “Gran”. She enjoyed boating, the beach, reading, sports, learning new things, and doing anything with her grandkids. She was an avid gardener and loved to crochet, and was a guardian ad litem and enjoyed advocating for the rights of children.
Besides her parents, Judie was preceded in death by her husband, Larry William Parr on May 26, 1995, and a brother and his wife, Ron and Peggy Brantley.
Surviving are her children, Jennifer Parr Piercy and husband Jerry of Raleigh, North Carolina, Renae Parr McCullough and husband Jay of Birmingham, Alabama, and Lance William Parr and wife Jennifer of Maumee, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Austin McCullough of Charleston, South Carolina, Laettner Parr of Cleveland, Tennessee, Gabrielle Piercy Given and husband Braeden of Birmingham, Anna Grace McCullough of Mobile, Alabama, Ellie Parr of West Lafayette, Indiana, Ryan Piercy of Cullowhee, North Carolina, and Camden Parr of West Lafayette, and a step grandson, Chase Williams of Maumee; a brother, Mike Brantley and wife Lisa of Owensboro; nieces and nephews, Micki Brantley Howard and husband Scott and Megan, Jonathan, and Briston Brantley.
Funeral services for Judie will be 2 PM, Thursday, December 19, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with entombment following in Owensboro Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 11 AM until the time of the service Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
