Judith "Judy" Ann Counts

Judith “Judy” Ann Counts, 80, of Indianapolis, IN, formerly of Owensboro, KY, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2024, at IU Health West Hospital. The Daviess County native was born August 12, 1943, to the late Bennett Young and Katherine Nash and raised by Delbert and Stella Young. 

Judy worked various jobs in her early years including dog grooming and home health nursing. Judy raised two daughters and a son. After the passing of one daughter, in 2019, Judy was reunited with her first daughter which then became an important addition to her life. Judy enjoyed puzzles, an array of different birds, and watching UK basketball with her sister, Carolyn on the phone. She loved her two cats, MiLing and Ellie. Judy lived at the Roosevelt House in Owensboro before moving to Glasswater Creek of Plainfield in Indianapolis to be closer to her family. She was active with many friends and shared her beautiful smile often. Judy attended First Free Will Baptist Church in Owensboro and then The Blended Church in Indianapolis with her daughter, Misty, where she made her profession of faith in Jesus Christ. 

In addition to her parents, Judy also was preceded in death by her daughter, Joyce McBride in 2019; siblings, Bennett Young, Joe Young, Darlene LaRoche, and Betty Westmoreland. 

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Misty Smith (Owen) of Avon, IN and Kim Patrick (Jim) of Greenfield, IN; son, Don Counts (Donna) of Evansville, IN; five grandchildren, Brayden Baize, Jessica, Brittany, and Ethan Patrick, and Valeria Counts; sisters, Carolyn Simpson (Darrell), Gloria Johnson, Emma Wright; brother, John Crawford (Judy); sister-in-law, Nora Young; numerous nieces and nephews. 

The funeral will be at 12:00 noon Saturday, April 13 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with visitation from 9:00 am until the time of service. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
