Judith Ann Denton

Judith Ann Denton, 79, of Owensboro, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at the Heartford House, surrounded by the compassionate care of Hospice of Western Kentucky.

Born in Daviess County on August 15, 1947, Judith was the cherished daughter of the late Shelby Denton, Sr. and Evelyn Tong Denton.

Judy attended and graduated from Owensboro Catholic High School where she was voted “Most Beautiful” by her senior class. She pursued her higher education at Western Kentucky University, Brescia College, and Owensboro Community & Technical College. This strong foundation paved the way for a successful professional career in investments and banking.

Judith lived a vibrant, purpose-driven life defined by her extraordinary commitment to her community. She generously gave her time and leadership to numerous organizations, serving as an officer for the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and as both secretary and vice president on the board of Big Brothers Big Sisters. Her passion for supporting local youth shone through her volunteer work at Owensboro Catholic High School Scrip office, her dedication to the Apollo Band Boosters, and her service with the Audubon Council of the Boy Scouts. She also brought her sharp leadership skills to her neighborhood, serving on the HOA board of the Quail Ridge Condominiums.

Beneath her active civic life was a deep well of resilience and love for her family. Judith was preceded in death by her beloved sons, William Todd Pruden and William Bradley Pruden, as well as her brother, Tom Denton.

Her enduring legacy of grace, strength, and service lives on through her family. She is survived by her children, Carrie Wigginton and her husband Keith of Prosper, Texas, and Sean Pruden of Owensboro; her daughter-in-law, Jennifer Pruden of Nashville, Tennessee; and her three treasured grandchildren, Ella and Cooper Wigginton, and Gianna Pruden, who brought immense joy to her life. She also leaves behind her loving siblings: her sister, Carolyn Denton of Lexington, and two brothers, Dan Denton (Cassy) of Charleston, South Carolina, and Phillip Denton (Frankie) of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; alongside several nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
