Juanita M. Carder, 85, of Utica passed away March 20, 2016 at her home. She was born October 29, 1930 in Venedocia, Ohio to the late Harry E. and Esther Z. Ladd. Mrs. Carder received her BS degree in Education from Defiance College, Defiance, Ohio and her MS in Psychology from St. Francis College, Ft. Wayne, Indiana. She pursued a career in education as an elementary teacher, librarian, and PE instructor initially in Cloverdale, Ohio and then Continental, Ohio from where she retired. Juanita was a huge Indiana University fan who celebrated their most recent victory over Kentucky in the NCAA tournament before her sudden passing. She was an active member of Settle Memorial UMC, a Kentucky Colonel, and one who loved to travel with her husband as they had visited 46 out of the 50 states.
Mrs. Carder was a devoted wife who was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Raymond H. Carder, in 2005.
Survivors include her son, R. Kim Carder and wife Susan of Utica; brothers, Harry Ladd Jr., John Ladd and wife Sylvia, Jerry Ladd and wife Jan, all of Ohio, Jim Ladd and wife Imogene of Arizona; grandson, Josh Carder and wife Chasity of Owensboro; granddaughter, Jackie Gregory and husband Travis of Northglenn. Colorado; great grandsons, Jackson and Liam Carder; great granddaughter, Willa Gregory.
The service will be 10:00 AM Thursday March 24 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with the Rev. Darren Brandon officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 and from 9:00 AM Thursday. Burial with a graveside service will be 10:00 AM Monday, March 28 in Continental, Ohio at Monroe Cemetery with Heitmeyer Funeral Home handling the arrangements.
