Joyce Wright

With sadness in our hearts, we announce another angel is now in heaven. Joyce Fay Woodard Wright, 74, of Utica, passed away on November 27, 2023, unexpectedly in her sleep, while at her home.

Joyce was born on February 24, 1949, in Henderson, KY to the late Carvil "Doc" & Pauline Woodard. She graduated from Henderson City High School in 1967. Joyce moved to Owensboro in 1970, with her husband Paul. At one time she owned her own beauty shop, Joyce's Beauty Corral. Joyce changed careers after moving with Paul to Washington D.C. She became a civil servant, working for the Department of Defense, US Air Force for fifteen years (eight at the Pentagon), before moving back to Owensboro after their retirement in 2005.

Joyce enjoyed spending time with her family, especially with her twin grandchildren Liam and London Wright. She cherished spending every summer, weekend & holiday with them and couldn't wait until the weekend to pick them up.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Michael Keith Wright.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Paul Wright; a son, Patrick Wright of Owensboro; three grandchildren, Liam & London Wright of Owensboro, and Taryn Monohan of South Carolina; two brothers, Marion (Nick) Woodard of Utica, and William (Bill) Woodard (Charolette) of Petersburg Virginia; a sister, Linda Cravens of Owensboro; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be private.
