Joyce Marie Stallings Wimsatt, 71, of Owensboro died Sunday, November 13, 2011 at Owensboro Medical Health System. She was born in St. Joseph, KY to the late Cleveland Martin (1979) and Mary Frances Hamilton Stallings (2003). She graduated from Mount St Joseph Academy in Maple Mount, KY in 1958 and from the Owensboro School of Practical Nurses in 1963. Mrs. Wimsatt retired from Owensboro Daviess County Hospital as a Licensed Practical Nurse after 35 years of service and retired from Kmart after 8 years. She was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church. She was also preceded in death by her husband Bernard Joseph Wimsatt in 1982, daughter Paula Ann Wimsatt in 1964, brothers Cary Michael Stallings in 1946 and Kenneth Lawrence Stallings in 2005.
Survivors include her sons, William Aloysius Wimsatt (Darla) and Robert Joseph Wimsatt (Lisa) both of Owensboro; daughters, Donna Marie Learned (Bob) of Bellbrook, OH, Janet Lynne Baker (Brian) of Camano Island, WA and Deborah Sue Durbin (Tom) of Owensboro; six brothers, Francis Martin Stallings, Edward Benedict Stallings (Agnes), Allan Hugh Stallings (Nina) all of Owensboro, James Carroll Stallings of Frenchburg, KY, Daniel Lloyd Stallings (Rita) of Utica, KY and Stephen Lynn Stallings (Sheila) of Beaver Dam, KY; sister, Edana Margaret McDaniel (Matt) of Portland, OH; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and many loving and helpful neighbors, especially Pete and Mary Barham and family.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at Precious Blood Catholic Church. Fr. Bruce McCarty will officiate. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm with prayers at 7:00 pm at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Friends may also visit after 8:30 am on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
