Joyce Marilyn Coombs Wilson, 79, died peacefully in her sleep, Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at the Fair View Nursing Home in Mauston, Wisconsin. Born in Owensboro on November 11, 1930, she was the daughter of the late David Judson Coombs and Thelma Starks; was a nurse; and was a member of the St Patrick Catholic Church in Mauston. She graduated from a vocational nursing program in the early sixties, was well respected and worked in various hospitals and nursing homes in Kentucky and Wisconsin until the 1990's. After retiring, she worked part time for the Thayer's Jewelry Store in Mauston. She enjoyed serving on several committees and being involved with many church activities, and was a member and served as an officer in the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. She was preceded in death by her husband, Scott Harlan Wilson.
Surviving are her children, Linda L. Chitwood of Boerne, TX, David W. Strange, Jr. of Mauston, and Elizabeth L. Corley of Nashville, TN.
A Mass of Christian burial was held Thursday, September 9, 2010 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Mauston. Private burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Owensboro. Glenn Funeral Home is handling local arrangement.
