Joyce Ann Webster, 81, passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Owensboro to the late Gilbert and Edwina Clement Coy. Joyce met Doug Webster while working for The Wax Works and they were married in 1955; she left The Wax Works in 1957 to begin raising their family. In 1964, she and Doug formed Webster's Inc., a wholesaler of records and tapes. In 1983, they started The Sweet Shoppe, a candy store located in the Executive Inn. In 2000, Joyce began volunteering for the Golden Partners at the Health Park, where over the past 16 years she made several wonderful friends. Joyce enjoyed crafts ranging from sewing, crocheting, ceramics, and making greeting cards. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, from the many vacations and camping trips over the years to the frequent visits of her great-grandchildren, Gabe and Molly. Joyce was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church.
She was also preceded in death by her brother, Prentice Coy.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Doug Webster; sons, Doug Webster, II and his wife Shelia of Owensboro and Wayne Webster and his wife Tuula of Gulfport, FL; a daughter, Susan Mathison and her husband Dan of Owensboro; grandchildren, Amanda Glenn and her husband Bobby and Haley Shrewsberry; great-grandchildren, Gabe Glenn and Molly Glenn; and a niece, Barbie Shutt and her husband Jeff.
Joyce's family would like to thank the nurses and CNA's who work on the fifth floor of OHRH along with the Palliative Care Team for their care and kindness during her stay.
Services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Trinity Episcopal Church. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Ennichement will be in the columbarium of Trinity Episcopal Church.
