Joyce Hillard Leach, 93, passed away February 27, 2025. She was born in Livermore, KY on August 11, 1931 and graduated from Livermore High School.
She later worked at General Electric where she met her husband. When her daughter entered school, she became the PTA President of Longfellow Elementary. Later, she assisted her husband with his photography business, J. L. Leach Photography.
Joyce and her husband loved to travel- visiting Canada, Hawaii, Mexico, Bermuda, and the Bahamas. The two also managed many antique booths and owned several rental houses throughout the years. They loved to play golf and bowl. It wasn't just a marriage; they were an amazing team. Reading, knitting and U.K. Basketball were a few of her many pastimes. She also enjoyed her many visits from friends and neighbors.
Joyce was a member of Lewis Lane Baptist Church where she taught children's (three and four year-old) Sunday school for 30 years, managed the Mother's Day Out program and helped prepare many bereavement dinners and Wednesday night meals.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, James “Jim” Lexter Leach in 2023; her parents, Mary and Ted Hillard of Livermore, KY; a daughter, Leslie Preston; sisters, Rita Willis and Shirley Langston; and a brother, Ronnie Hillard.
Survivors include her daughter, Jamie Johnston (Barry Johnston) and numerous nieces and nephews.
The service will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, March 4 at Glenn Funeral Home where visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until the time of service. Burial will be at Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
