Joyce Deane Deddens, 87, of Owensboro, died Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at her home. Joyce was born in Owensboro, April 4, 1925 to the late Conrad and Audrey (Brown) Adleman. Joyce was confirmed at Zion German Evangelical Church (now Zion United Church of Christ) in Owensboro. She was one of the first policewomen in Owensboro and later, after marriage and the birth of her son, became a homemaker. She resided with her husband, Theodore F. Deddens, in Two Rivers, Wisconsin, Reading, Pennsylvania, and Burlington, Kansas before returning to Kentucky where she retired with her husband in Lewisport. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted, and her siblings Faye (Adelman) Harmon, Clifton, and Conrad Lee (Sonny) Adelman.
She is survived by her son Ted Deddens, his wife Kate, and her grandchildren Maris, Abigail, Ted, and Samuel Deddens, and by her sister Sharon Quisenberry, all of Owensboro. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be 7 p.m. Friday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Pastor Gary Hallman officiating. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday. Interment will be private. Online condolences may be expressed at www.glennfuneralhome.com.
