Joyce F. Banks

Joyce F. Banks, 87, of Lewisport, Kentucky passed away Monday, June 29, 2026 under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Kentucky. She was born in Albany, Oregon to the late Charles H. and Berniece Farwell Freitag.

Mrs. Banks was a dedicated military wife and mother, providing care and warmth as the family made the moves that go along with a military lifestyle. She was also a hard worker, actively farming in Hancock County. This busy life included driving tractors, stripping tobacco and valued relationships developed at meetings and events in the farming community.

Mrs. Banks was preceded in death by her husband, James Loyd Banks in 2018; and brothers, Ronald, Donald, Gene and Jerry Freitag.

She is survived by her children, Teresa K. Wilson (Rev. R. Tom Wilson) of Leitchfield, KY and Alan Banks of Lewisport, KY; grandchildren, Janece Hite Parsons (Eddie) of Smithfield, KY and Justin Wilson of Bardstown, KY; great-grandchildren, Emma and Ethan Parsons; brothers, Homer Freitag, Harlan Freitag and Larry Davis; and many nieces and nephews.
