Joseph Michael Yates

Joseph Michael Yates, 75, of Owensboro, passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born January 19, 1941 in Jefferson Co. to the late Joseph Wallace and Mary Jane O'Bryan Yates. Mike retired after 37 ½ years at Whirlpool Corp. and was a Union Steward with the I.U.E.-C.W.A. Local #808. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Mike was a U. S. Navy veteran during the Viet Nam Era, was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #696, and the V.F. W. Honor Guard. He was also preceded in death by a son, Gregory Wayne Yates on June 10, 1996 and a granddaughter, Kaitlynn Elizabeth Alley on September 1, 1994.

Surviving are his wife of 51 ½ years, Joyce Wink Yates, two sons, Stephen Yates and wife Anastasia of Dallas, TX and Jeremy Yates and wife Kimberly of Greenville, N.C., three daughters, Debbie Carpenter and husband Russell of Clarksville, TN, Jenni Arnold and husband Ryan of Owensboro, and Kim Bangart and husband Marty of Hopkinsville, 14 grandchildren, Jacob and Allison Allen, Kalina and Patrick Yates, Alex, Nathan, Elliot, and Andrew Yates, Victoria, Isaac, Eli, and Jackson Arnold, Evelyn and Kaley Bangart, and a great grandchild, Layla Rose.

Services will be Noon Monday, January 16, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with burial following in Resurrection Cemetery with full military honors . Visitation will be from 3:00-7:00 P.M. Sunday with prayers at 6:00 P.M. and from 10:00-11:30 A.M. Monday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
