Joseph Franklin Welsh, 82, of 2118 Center Street, Owensboro, died Saturday, March 9, 2002 at Owensboro Mercy Health System. He was born in Daviess County, Kentucky on December 30, 1919 the son of John and Nattie Wooten Welsh.
Mr. Welsh retired from Murphy-Miller Company after 36 years and was a member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church. He was a World War II veteran and a member of Disabled American Veterans.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Eva Welsh; a son, Joseph Franklin Joey Welsh, Jr. of Owensboro; three daughters, Judy Ferlis of Manassas, VA, Nita Burg of Cincinnati and Janie Kessinger of Owensboro; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be 9:00 a.m. Monday, March 11, 2002 at Blessed Mother Catholic Church, officiated by Father Eric Riley. Entombment will follow in Rosehill Cemetery. His family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Sunday, March 10, 2002 and after 8:00 a.m. Monday at Glenn Funeral Home. Prayers will be said at 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
