Joseph Thomas Wedding, 85 passed away Monday, November 24, 2008 at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born in Daviess Co., Ky. to the late Celestione and Annie Rickfelder Wedding. Joe was a World War II veteran and served honorably in the U.S. Navy. He was a charter member of Immaculate Catholic Church. Joe was a member of the Owensboro Lions Club and recipient of the club's prestigious Melvin Jones Fellow Award. He retired from Field Packing Co where he was employed in the accounting department for over 35 years. He was a charter member and past treasurer of the Fields Packing Federal Credit Union. Joe had a 65 year love affair with the game of golf and enjoyed watching his grandchildren participate in all their sports activities. He was an avid U.K. basketball and St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan.
He is preceded in death by his first wife Geneva Hines Wedding and daughter-in-law, Melissa Wedding. He is survived by his son, Thomas M. Wedding of Owensboro and Thomas' daughters, Paris Marie and London Wedding, and brother Jim Wedding and wife Louise of Newburgh, Indiana.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Rita Bender Wedding, and his extended family including the late George W. Bender, Jr. and his wife Angela, Cathy Bender Foster and husband Wayne, Becky Bender Whittaker and husband Darrel, Theresa Bender Ashworth and her husband Jeff and Loretta Bender Higdon and her husband Perry; 18 grandchildren including Meredith Higdon who passed away on Dec. 23, 1988; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, Nov. 26 , at Immaculate Catholic Church with burial following in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 - 8:000 P.M. Tuesday and after 9:00 A.M. Wednesday at Glenn Funeral Home. Prayers will be 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
