Joseph Paul Warren

Joseph P. "Joe Paul" Warren, 91, of Owensboro, formerly of West Louisville, passed away on Wednesday November 30, 2011 at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born on December 30, 1919 in Daviess Co. to the late Clement Leo and Ruth Eliza Long Warren. Joe Paul was retired as a heavy equipment operator with the Operating Engineers Union Local #181 in Henderson. He was a former member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church for many years and currently was a member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II having served in the European Theater and the Battle of the Bulge. He had served four terms as West Daviess Co. Commissioner from 1954 until 1970 and ran a road grader for the County in the West end for eight years. He enjoyed farming and gardening after he retired, playing bridge, watching U.K. basketball, and playing several instruments. He could play the drums, guitar, piano, and harmonica, all at the same time. He is also preceded in death by four brothers, LaVerne, Monroe, Roger, and Dennis Warren.

Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Joyce Warren, two daughters, Jean Adcock of Owensboro and Jill Steen and husband Buddy of Bowling Green, KY, five sons, Paul Warren and wife Joyce, Danny Warren and wife Francele, and Perry Warren and wife Sue, all of Owensboro, Pat Warren and wife Susan of Gilbertsville, and Scott Warren and wife Charla of Lebanon, IL, 20 grandchildren, Chris Warren, Shannon Hamilton, Leslie Warren, Kelly Warren, Amy Millay, Wendy Myers, Mark Warren, Jason Adcock, Justin Adcock, Ben Warren, Blake Warren, Samantha Warren, Savannah Warren, Zachary Warren, Jacqueline Warren, Michael Warren, Matt and Alicia Pour, Sarah Steen, and Allison Steen, 13 great grandchildren, two sisters, Mary Ruth Warren and Agnes Stuart, both of Owensboro, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 3, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church with burial following in St. Alphonsus Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Friday with prayers at 7:00 P.M. and after 9:00 A.M. Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
