Joseph Edward Tichenor, 86, of Owensboro passed away January 16, 2026, in the precious care of Hospice at the Heartford House. He was born to the late Joseph Edward and Mary Ethel Tichenor. An avid reader and lover of the most intellectual books, almost everywhere he went, Ed often shared newfound anecdotes and memorable historical revelations. Ed spoke fondly of his coworkers at Green River Steel where he worked for many years. He enjoyed playing tennis and visiting with friends at Moreland Park.
Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years and still counting, Barbara Davidson Tichenor.
He is survived by two daughters Sarah Mulligan-Winters, Sandra (Matthew) Carrico, and one son Joseph (Jessica) Tichenor all of Owensboro; three grandchildren Hannah and Madison Mulligan and Claire Tichenor; four brothers Gene (Oknam) Tichenor of Odenton, Maryland, William (Kathy) Tichenor of Indianapolis, Indiana, James Anthony (Brenda) Tichenor and Thomas (Denise) Tichenor of Atlanta, Georgia; two sisters, Virginia Fulkerson of North Carolina, Patricia Ann Unversaw of Tampa, Florida; and so many beloved nieces and nephews, as well as many great nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday and 9:00 a.m. until the time of service, Wednesday, at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Heartford House of Western Kentucky.
