Joseph Bernard "Hank" Thompson Jr., 83, died October 17th at his home after a battle with cancer. He was born October 18, 1924 to Joseph Bernard Thompson Sr. and Anabelle Wimsatt Thompson, who preceded him in death along with two brothers; Raymond and Eugene, two sisters; Mary Beverly and Mildred; and a daughter Cynthia Ann Thompson.
Hank is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Imogene Howard Thompson whom he married February 9, 1952; his son, Glenn Thompson of Owensboro; three daughters, Yvonne Thompson of Lexington, Maureen (Bill) Walczak of Union, Ky. and Carla (Cory) Garyotis of St. Augustine, Fl.; three grandchildren; Amanda Leigh Thompson of Plano Texas, Kurt Andrew Thompson of Fayetteville, Ar. and Connor Joseph Garyotis of St. Augustine, Fl.; three brothers; Leo (Angela), Paul William (Kaye) and Charles Edward (Anna Ruth); four sisters; Virginia Hardy, Margaret Scherm, Patsy (Johnny) Clayton, and Martha Helen Howard, all of Owensboro nad more than 100 mieces, nephews and cousins.
Hank was a member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus 6106 Sorgho, and a devoted farmer all his life in the Sorgho area. He was a Navy Boatswain's Mate First Class on the USS LST 869 in World War II.
Viaitation will be Sunday from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. and after 8:30 a.m. on Monday. Prayers with the Rosary will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday at Glenn Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday at St. Mary Magdalene Church in Sorgho with Fr. Patrick Bittel officiating followed by burial at St. Rapheal Cemetery.
