Joseph "Don" Thompson, 76, of Owensboro died Monday, April 6, 2015 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born in Owensboro to the late Joseph Thompson and Mary Hagan Nanz.
Don was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He most recently worked as a car salesman and previously owned and operated an automotive electronics repair shop. Don attended Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
He enjoyed barbecuing and cooking in general. He also volunteered as a senior companion and was an avid U.K. fan. Don lived life to the fullest and will be missed by many.
He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Kay Thompson; a son, Joseph "Todd" Thompson (Tammy); daughters, Kim Barnett (Dennis), Kelly Trogden (Paul) and Holly Wilson (Yaz); 11 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren, all of Owensboro; step-daughter, Tracy Murphy of Owensboro; step-son, Jeff Mattingly of Connecticut; 2 step-grandchildren; and two half-brothers, Tommy and Jimmy Thompson.
The funeral mass will be 12 Noon, Friday, April 10 at St. Stephen Cathedral. Burial will be at Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Thursday from 3-7 PM and after 10 Friday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
