Joseph E. Stinnett

July 19, 1926 — February 14, 2005

Joseph E. "Papa" Stinnett, 78, of 2727 Allen St., Owensboro, passed away on Monday, February 14, 2005, at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born in Daviess Co., Ky. to the late Charles "Zode" & Oda Raymond Stinnett. He was retired from General Electric Co. and M.P.D. as an Electronics technician after 46 years. He was a member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church, where he had served as a eucharistic minister and usher, was formerly a member of the church parish council, and had been Blessed Mother School's athletic director and coached basketball there for 13 years. He was a graduate of St. Joseph High School. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, J. B. & Raymond "Flop" Stinnett, and a sister, Mary Ethel Evans.

Surviving is his wife of 58 years, Lahoma Arnold Stinnett, three daughters, Carol S. Goetz, and Becky Cissell, both of Owensboro, and Shannon & her husband, Mike Keelin of Maceo, three sons, J. Michael and wife Karen Stinnett of Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada, Tim & wife Jeanne Stinnett of Owensboro, and Chris & wife Kim Stinnett of Hendersonville, Tn., 13 grandchildren, Jeff Goetz, and Lane Brasher, Michael, Brian, and Matthew Cissell, Melissa, Josh, and Joey Keelin, Jayme Stinnett, Nicole Stinnett, and Kelsey, Kaley, and Christopher Stinnett, and 12 great grandchildren.

The funeral mass will be held at 12 Noon Thursday, February 17, at Blessed Mother Catholic Church with burial following in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday with prayers at 5:30 P.M. and after 9:00 A.M. Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home.
