Joseph D. Spears

Joseph D. Spears, Jr., 82, of Owensboro, passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at his home. He was born on August 9, 1930 in Jefferson Co., KY to the late Joe D. and Marie Kinsler Spears. He had been employed as a truck driver and a security guard and was of the Catholic faith. Joe was a U. S. Air Force veteran and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #696. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Ann Spears on February 17, 1989.

Surviving are four sons, Joseph D. Spears III and wife Sandy and Richard E. Spears, all of Owensboro, Norman L. Spears and wife Dana of Maceo, and Bobby F. Spears and wife Pat of Jeffersonville, IN, three daughters, Christine Hendricks and friend Terry King, Mary D. Payne and husband Tom, and Cathy P. Conrey and husband James, all of Owensboro, his longtime companion, Betty Pruden of Owensboro, 23 grandchildren, and 45 great grandchildren.

Services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, March 16, in the Chapel of Owensboro Memorial Gardens. There will be no visitation.
