Joseph Eugene Saalwaechter

Joseph E. Saalwaechter, 89, of Stanley, passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2014, at his home surrounded by all his family and friends. He was born on December 25, 1924 in Daviess Co., KY to the late Henry and Beulah Hundley Saalwaechter. Joseph was a member of Stanley Baptist Church and was retired from the Whirlpool Corporation after 33 years. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II. He enjoyed raising his garden every year, bowling and golfing, playing cards, and woodworking. Joseph was the greatest husband, father, and grandfather anyone could ever have and he loved spending time with all of them. He was a very caring and generous man. He and his brothers often helped do a lot of mission work involving various needs.
Joseph was also preceded in death by a son, Ricky Lee Saalwaechter in 1997, seven brothers, Arthur, Sam, Paul, John, Harry, J. W., and James Saalwaechter, and three sisters, Mary Catherine and Margaret Beaty Saalwaechter, and Henrietta Quinn.
Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Theresa Wilson Saalwaechter, two sons, Stanley Saalwaechter and wife Kathy of Stanley and Larry Saalwaechter and wife Connie of Thruston, a daughter, Nancy Joe Huffman and husband Bob of Boonville, IN, a daughter-in-law, Melisa Saalwaechter of Owensboro, 15 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, a brother, Kenneth Saalwaechter of Owensboro, and his loving dog Baby.
Services will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday, March 20, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Pete Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Scherer Cemetery in Stanley. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday and after 8:30 A.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
