Joseph Howard Pearl,Sr., 76, of Owensboro, passed away Saturday, August 12, 2006 at the Owensboro Medical Health System. Born January 19, 1930 to the late Jessie and Oda Lucas Pearl, he was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church; retired from Fields Packing where he worked for 39 years; was an Army veteran of the Korean War earning the Purple Heart; and was a member of AMVETS, DAV, and a life member of the VFW. Mr. Pearl enjoyed gardening, his Model T Ford, NASCAR, watching Wheel of Fortune; and spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. Pearl was preceded in death by his first wife Artie Brown Pearl in 1985 and brothers, James Pearl and Jessie Pearl.
He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Teena Kay Simpson Pearl, children, Pam Pearl, Buddy (and Debbie) Pearl, Tim (and Bobbi) Pearl of Owensboro, Rodger (and Karen) Pearl of Roanoke, AL, Emily Pearl of Huntsville, AL, and Cody Pearl of Owensboro; 9 grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 1 step-great-grandchild; brothers, John Pearl of Owensboro and Charles (and Renee) of Anniston, AL; and a sister, Mary Osborne of Southgate, CA.
Services are 11:30 A.M. Tuesday, August 15, 2006 at Glenn Funeral Home followed by burial in Elmwood Cemetery with military honors provided by VFW Post 696. Visitation will be from 2-8 P.M. Monday and after 9 A.M. Tuesday at the funeral home where prayers will be said at 6 P.M. on Monday.
