Joseph David Noble

July 29, 1963 — January 27, 2018

Joseph David Noble II, 54, of Rimrock, Arizona, passed away there January 27, 2018. Born in Richmond, Virginia, David was a 1981 graduate of Owensboro High School where he played football for the Red Devils. He attended Western Kentucky University and retired from the United States Army. He was a graduate of the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California, with proficiency in Serbo-Croatian and Russian.


Mr. Noble was involved in numerous overseas deployments during his military career. He was awarded the Bronze Star for his actions during the Persian Gulf War. There, he was a senior interrogator at the VII Corps Prisoner of War Interrogation Facility, Company A, 511th Military Intelligence Battalion, 207th Intelligence Brigade. His service included the collection of detailed information on the locations of obstacles in advance of three Iraqi divisions during Operation Desert Storm. Included among them were command posts, antiaircraft batteries, and supplies. His work there resulted in the discovery of locations of command posts at the highest levels. He also served in Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.

Mr. Noble is survived by his children, Brittany McCarthy and her husband Michael of Louisville, and David Mitchell Noble and his fiancé Olivia Green of Gainesville, Virginia; his mother, Jane Noble of Owensboro; his sister, Debynie Sowder and her husband Keith of Lexington; his half-brother Tim Noble of Owensboro; his granddaughter; three step-children; nieces, and a nephew.

The funeral service for Mr. Noble, officiated by Rev. Myke Templeton will be 1:00 p.m. Friday at Christ Community Church in Owensboro, where visitation will be from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m. Friday. Interment will be in The Field of Honor at Owensboro Memorial Gardens immediately following the funeral service.
