Joseph Leo Mulligan, 87, of 1830 Westview Dr., Owensboro, passed away on Sunday, December 7, 2008 at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was retired from General Electric Co as an electrician and was a member of Immaculate Catholic Church. He loved sitting outside and feeding the squirrels and birds, working with his hands, barbequing chickens, and raising a garden and winemaking. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II having fought in the Battle of the Bulge and was a member of the V. F. W. Post 696. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Tong Mulligan on Dec. 13, 2000, and two brothers, Tim Mulligan and Richard "Jack" Mulligan.
Surviving are five sons, David Michael Mulligan, Patrick Jospeh Mulligan, and Mark Anthony Mulligan and wife Debby, all of Owensboro, William Dennis Mulligan of Columbia, S. C., and Daniel Lee Mulligan of San Diego, CA, a daughter and son-in-law, Leisa Jane and Scott Gordon of Owensboro, nine grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, a sister, Dorothy Barker of Las Vegas, NV, and two brothers, Keith Mulligan of Michigan, and L. Tyler Mulligan of Owensboro (who passed away a short time later on Dec. 8, 2008).
Services will be 1:00 P.M. Thursday, Dec. 11, at Immaculate Catholic Church with burial following in St. Anthony Cemetery at Browns Valley. Visitation will be from 3:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday and after 11:00 A.M. Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home. Prayers will be 6:30 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorial contributions to be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of the Ohio Valley, 723 Harvard Dr., Owensboro, Ky. 42301.
