Joseph Marvin Morris, 94, of Owensboro, passed away Thursday, July 28, 2016 at the Carmel Home. Born in Knottsville March 6, 1922 to Joseph B. and Emma Dell Morris, Marvin was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church where he was a long time member of the picnic cooking team, and retired from NSA in 1985. He was married to the late Mildred Harley Morris who preceded him in death in 2008. Marvin was also preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Evelyn Stacik; son, James Morris; two grandsons, Billy Lindsey and Wes Morris; great grandson, Jacob Murphy; four brothers and five sisters.
He is survived by eight children, Mary Jo Westerfield (Carl), Betty Murphy (Gary), all of Owensboro, Virgie Evans (Melvyn) of Jasper, IN, Nancy Clark (Dennis), Charlie Morris (Donna) of Maceo, J.E. "Joe" Morris (Alice) of Calvert City, David Morris (Peggy) of Whitesville, Bobby Morris (Karen) of Utica; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Morris and son-in-law, Sonny Stacik; 26 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren; sister, Emma Whistle (Elwood); brothers, J.W. Morris (Mary) and Jody Morris.
Services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at St. Pius X, with Fr. Tom Buckman officiating. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Monday and 8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Prayers will be Monday at 7:30 p.m.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Trinity High School building fund, St. Pius X building fund, or Carmel Home.
