Joseph G. Millay

Joseph G. "Jack" Millay, 83, of Owensboro, passed away on Monday, February 21, 2011 at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born on October 27, 1927 in Daviess Co., Ky. to the late James Robert and Mary Rose Roby Millay. He was retired from Coca-Cola Bottling Co. and also was a custodian for Sts. Joseph and Paul Catholic Church and then was a custodian for St. Thomas More Catholic Church and School in Paducah for about 20 years before moving back. Jack was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, raising a garden, and singing and playing his guitar. He was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters, Robert and James Millay, Dorothy Roberts, Kathleen Clark, Martha Newby, and Beverly Hagerman.

Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Wanda Millay, two sons, Pat (Patty) Millay of Owensboro and Michael Millay of Paducah, a daughter, Theresa Gail (Gregory) Gabel of Hardinsburg, eight grandchildren, Kelly (John) Giraudo of Peoria, IL, Megan Millay of Bowling Green, Tera Millay of Louisville, Heather (Drew) Murray of Florida, Shawn (Amber) Millay of Calhoun, Chad (Tiffany) Millay and Kristen (Josh) Gilmore, all of Owensboro, and Laura (Daniel) Sheras of St. Louis, nine great grandchildren, two brothers, Joseph Ronald Millay and William Donald Millay, and a sister, Mary Flo Mattingly all of Owensboro.

Services will be 12 Noon Thursday, February 24, at Blessed Mother Catholic Church with burial following in Resurrection Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday and after 10:00 A.M. Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Prayers will be 6:00 P.M. Wednesday.
