Joseph Jake Meserve, 67, of Owensboro died Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at his home following a lengthy illness. Born in Knottsville, a son of the late Emmett and Cecelia Harley Meserve, he had worked with his father at the family saw mill before becoming an electrician. He worked for May Electric and retired from King Electric. He was a member of Blessed Mother Catholic church. Mr. Meserve loved barbecuing and for many years was with the St. William and St. Lawrence cooking teams. He enjoyed playing pool and golf, pitching horseshoes and washers, fishing, horse racing, and baseball, having served as coach for 13 -15 year old Babe Ruth teams. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a Kentucky Colonel. Also preceding him in death were a son, Mike Roberson on February 27, 1994, a son-in-law, Tim Bolen, on January 16, 2007, and his brothers, Jerry Meserve and Larry Meserve.

Survivors include his wife, Loretta Harrington Meserve; two sons, Steve (Debbie) Roberson and David Roberson, both of Owensboro; three daughters, Dianne Cinnamond, Melissa Bermudez, and Patricia Bolen, all of Owensboro; four brothers, Bill (Francis) Meserve, Patrick (Rose) Meserve, and Calvin Wavy Meserve, all of Knottsville, and Bob (Barbara) Meserve, of Chattanooga; four sisters, Wanda (Diddle) Lanham and Clara (Dick) Johnson, both of Knottsville, Katie (Bill) Christian and Mary Jane Murty Hagan (Jerry), both of Whitesville, and Linda (Alan) Howard of Ensor; 16 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

Services are at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at St. William Catholic Church, officiated by the Rev. Tony Stevenson. Visitation will be from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and from 10:00 until 1:00 p.m. Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home, where prayers will be at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in St. William cemetery.
