Joseph A. Medlin, Jr., 71, of Owensboro passed away Friday, November 13, 2009 at the Owensboro Medical Health System. Born in Dayton, OH on May 16, 1938, he graduated from Daviess County High School; worked for Shell Oil; was a member of Buena Vista Baptist Church; and was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Medlin was an avid bowler and loved watching the St. Louis Cardinals and UK basketball. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph A. Medlin, Sr.
Survivors include a son, Joseph Medlin, III of Mobile, AL; daughters, Stacy Hawkins and Jenny (Kenneth) Luken of Cincinnati; his mother, Mary Medlin of Owensboro; grandchildren, Whitney Klosterman, Victoria Ogle, Taylor and Madison Luken, Erica Hawkins, Dylan Medlin-Skinner, and Joseph Medlin, IV; a great-grandchild, Peyton Klosterman; and sisters, Pat (Tom) Witherspoon, Betty (Bob) Scrivner and Cicily (Jim) Pruden all of Owensboro.
Services are 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Bruce Treon and Rev. Debbie Handkins officiating followed by burial in Yellow Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday.
