Joseph Marion McCarty, 60, of Junction City, KS (formerly of Owensboro) passed away Wednesday, December 26, 2007 at the Colmery-O'Neil VA Medical Center in Topeka, KS. Born January 29, 1947 in Owensboro, Mr. McCarty was an Army veteran of the Vietnam Era; was retired from the DoD School System in Ft Riley, KS; and was a former member of Crabtree Ave. Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, shooting sports and reading American history. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph William McCarty, sisters, Patsy McCarty and Wanda Jean Oller, and a brother, William Gail McCarty.
He is survived by a son, SSG Jeff (and YuJung) McCarty of Lawton, OK; a daughter, Tammy McCarty of Junction City, KS; his mother, Dulcie Owen McCarty of Owensboro; a grandson, Andrew Ores of Junction City, KS; and several nieces and nephews.
Services are 10 A.M. Monday, December 31, 2007 at Glenn Funeral Home. Burial with military honors provided by VFW Post 696 will be in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-4 P.M. on Sunday and after 8:30 A.M. on Monday at the funeral home.
