Joseph A. Mattingly

Joseph A. Buck Mattingly, 87, of 2342 Hayden Bridge Road, Sorgho, died Tuesday, May 8, 2001 at Owensboro Mercy Health System. He was born October 28, 1913 in Daviess County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late George Paul Mattingly and Georgia Lee Vowels Mattingly. He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Mattingly.

Mr. Mattingly was a retired Real Estate Broker in Phoenix, AR. He was a member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, V.F.W., American Legion and was a Kentucky Colonel. He was an U. S. Army veteran of World War II having served in the European Theater. He had lived in Moberly, Missouri. He enjoyed going to garage sales, eating at Shoneys Restaurant and being with family and friends.

He is survived by his nurse, Margaret Hester of Sorgho; one brother, George P. GP Mattingly of Owensboro; two sisters, Lois Knott of Sorgho, Thelma Massie of Owensboro and several nieces and nephews.

His family will receive friends at Glenn Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 10, 2001 and after 8:30 a.m. Friday May 11, 2001. Prayers will be said Thursday at 5:30 p.m. Funeral services for Mr. Mattingly will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday May 11, 2001 at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church officiated by Father Pat Reynolds. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
