Joseph S. Joe Johnson, 40 of Philpot, died Saturday, February 19, 2005 at his home after a valiant battle with brain cancer. Born in Elizabethtown, KY on May 28, 1964, Mr. Johnson worked in the Maintenance Department of Commonwealth Industries and was a member of St. Pius Tenth Catholic Church. Mr. Johnson was a 1982 graduate of Owensboro Catholic High School. He enjoyed hunting and coaching little league baseball. He had a deep devotion to Saint Rita believing that through her intercession he received many blessings. He was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Matthew Johnson in 1989.

Surviving is his wife of 19 years, Michelle ShellyAnn Yeckering Johnson; a son, Chad Johnson and a daughter, Lindsey Johnson both at home; his parents, Joseph T. and Lois Marie Schwartz Johnson of Philpot; a brother and sister-in-law, Kevin and Andrea Johnson of Owensboro; a sister and brother-in-law, Sheri and John Ruth of Philpot; his mother in-law and father-in-law, Judy and Phil Decker of Owensboro; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Scott and Maggie Yeckering of Owensboro; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Stacy and Ron Locklear of North Carolina; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services are 10 A.M. Monday, February 21, 2005 at St. Pius Tenth Catholic Church with burial in St. Lawrence Cemetery in Daviess County. Visitation will be at Glenn Funeral Home from 1-8 P.M. on Sunday and after 8:30 A.M. on Monday. Prayers will be 7:30 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to St. Vincent De Paul Society, St. Pius Tenth Parrish.
