Joseph A. Howard

Joseph A. Howard, 88, of Owensboro, passed away on Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at Owensboro Care and Rehabilitation Center. He was born on February 17, 1924 in Daviess Co., KY to the late Madorias and Nora Clark Howard. Joseph was retired from the Owensboro Milling Co. and was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II having served in France, Holland, and Germany with the 101st Airborne Anti-aircraft Artillary Division and a Purple Heart recipient. He enjoyed woodworking and building furniture, U. K. basketball, and doing volunteer work for his church. He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kim Howard on June 24, 1998.

Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Helen Howard, their children, Linda (David) Sapp, Joe (Vicki) Howard, Jan (Bonny) Howard, and Lora (Bill) McCarty, all of Owensboro, 15 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, a sister, Lucille Payne of Owensboro, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, July 6 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with burial following in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday and after 8:30 A.M. Friday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Prayers will be 6:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
