Joseph Richard Hoffman

Joseph Richard Hoffman, 48, of Owensboro passed away Friday, September 7, 2012 at the Owensboro Medical Health System. Born in Owensboro on October 10, 1963, he was the son of Dorothy Pickrell Hoffman Draeger and the late Francis Raymond Hoffman; was a member of St Stephen Cathedral; and was a Surgical Technician at the Owensboro Surgery Center. He graduated from Daviess County High School in 1981 and then OCTC in 2011 where he was the President of his Surgical Technology Class. He was a loving, caring man who fought a brave fight against cancer, inspiring others with his determination. Joe loved all sports, especially UK, Catholic High, and the Miami Dolphins. He often coached his daughters' soccer, basketball, and other sports teams. He was also a member of the Catholic Men's Fellowship of St Stephen and the Knights of Columbus.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Jerome Draeger, and grandparents, Lelia and LaVerne Pickrell , Edward Hoffman, and Mary Ione Evans.

Surviving is his wife, Cindy Leek Hoffman; daughters, Gabrielle Hoffman and Francesca Hoffman; his mother, Dorothy Hoffman Draeger of Owensboro; a brother, Stephen (Diane) Hoffman of Owensboro; sisters, Susan (Steve) Higdon of Owensboro, Amelia ( Edward) Johnston of Louisville, KY and Ramonia (David) Rowland of Florence, KY; a step-daughter, Samantha (Daniel) Crowe of Utica; and several nieces and nephews.

Services are 1 p.m. Monday, September 10, 2012 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Father Brandon Williams officiating followed by burial in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday and after 10 a.m. on Monday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
