Joseph Allen Hagan

April 15, 1916 — May 3, 2014

Brother Joseph A. Hagan, 98, went to be with his Lord Jesus, May 3, 2014 at Twin Rivers Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was surrounded by family and many nurses and aids who made his life so much better until he was reunited with those who were awaiting his homecoming. We are sure there is rejoicing in Heaven today.

He was born in Daviess County, Kentucky, April 15, 1916 to the late Thomas A. Hagan and Lula Francis Taylor Hagan.

He was saved and had his name written in the Lamb's Book of Life in revival at Rushing Chapel Methodist Church in Sutherland, KY. He was an active Christian witness, wanting everyone he met to know his Lord and Savior.

Brother Hagan lived in Daviess County most of his life. He worked at Roberts Motor Company as a mechanic early in life. He purchased and farmed "God's Acres" for many years where he reared his family. Later he owned and operated J & J Contractors (Jesus and Joe) until he felt the call from God to pastor a small church at Pleasant Ridge. He then preached at a store front mission that led to the purchase of Rushing Chapel Methodist Church. The body of believers grew and became Rushing Wind Church of God. After sometime the church body felt the need to relocate in Owensboro. At the corner of Jeff Place and 5th Street, an educational building was built. A parsonage was built and later a new sanctuary was erected. Bro. Hagan loved his church and it's people. Many were saved a good work was established.

After retiring at nearly 80 years of age, he helped with a mission on Sweeney Street and did nursing home ministry for many years. Bro. Hagan loved the Lord above all things and served him faithfully.

He had a tender heart for all of God's creatures. He loved feeding the birds and growing vegetables and flowers. Bro. Hagan was truly a man of God.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Alberta Bobbitt Hagan in 1970; his faithful wife of 40 years, Lorie Utz Hagan in January of 2014; and a daughter, Mary Lou and her husband, Herman Jolly, a sister, Anna Belle Boling, and a brother, A. W. Hagan.

Bro. Hagan is survived by a son, George Hagan (Sharon) of Owensboro; 3 daughters, Francis Hall (Ken) of Maryland, Judy Norris (Louis) of Owensboro and Barbara King (Byron) of Utica; 19 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Louise ''Auntie'' and husband Dick Miller, many wonderful friends and church family, whose names could not all be listed. (God bless you)
