Joseph "Dale" Greenwell, 58, of Maceo, KY, died Monday, July 23, 2012, at Owensboro Medical Health System. He retired from Owensboro National Bank and had previously worked for Lincoln Services. He served in the National Guard, was a Kentucky Colonel, a member of Owensboro Christian Church and was a Gideon. He loved spending time with his grandkids, watching UK Basketball, attending many friend's and families' barbecues, camping, and fishing. Dale was given the gift of life by his daughter, Brittanie, on September 21, 2001, when she selflessly donated her kidney to him. His family would like to ask everyone to consider becoming an organ donor.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard "Dick" Greenwell.
Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Cindy Greenwell; children Brad Crump (Alicia) of Philpot and Brittanie Hite of Maceo; grandchildren, Kaitlin Hite, Ashley Hite, Graham Hicks, Tristan Coombs, and Ava Grace Crump; mother, Betty Clark Greenwell; siblings, Richard Greenwell (Barbara), Marlene Freels (Ricky), Bonnie Emmick (Byron), and Robin Greenwell; 8 nieces and nephews and 14 great-nieces and nephews; and his furry companion, a Jack Russell Terrier, Rowdy Boy.
Services will be held at Noon on Friday in the chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday and after 10 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
