Joseph Francis Green

Joseph "Joe" Green, 76, of Sorgho, passed away Monday, July 26, 2010 at Riverside Manor Nursing Home in Calhoun. Born in Daviess County on August 4, 1933, he was the son of the late Herman and Mary Frances Yeckering Green; was a farmer; and member of St Mary Magdalene Catholic Church. Mr. Green enjoyed gardening, NASCAR and horse racing, working jigsaw puzzles, was a National Guard veteran. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Queenie Roberts Green in 2003 and brothers, Henry Green and Herb Green.

Surviving are daughters, Jennifer (Jason) Cox and Mary Beth (Bobby) Edge of Owensboro; sons, Steve Green of Sorgho, Jeff (Tina) Green of Owensboro, Mike Green of West Louisville, David (Angie) Green of Delaware, KY, and Chris (Carrie) Green of Sorgho; 12 grandchildren with 2 more to arrive soon; six step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Margaret (Gene) Hutchinson and Ollie Hagan of Owensboro; and a sister-in-law, Irma Green of Owensboro.

Services are 11 a.m. Thursday, July 29, 2010 at St Mary Magdalene Catholic Church with Father Mark Buckner officiating. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory from 3-8 p.m. on Wednesday and after 9 a.m. on Thursday. Prayers will be said at 6:30 pm. on Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
