Joseph Garlen Davis

Joseph Garlen Davis, 81, of 2920 Yale Place, Apt. 209, Owensboro, died Saturday, September 21, 2002 at Owensboro Mercy Health System. He was born in McLean County, Kentucky on November 11, 1920 the son of Joseph G. and Claudia Addison Deberry Davis. His first wife, Mary E. Davis preceded him in death in 1972. A son, Joseph Kenny Davis and a daughter, Betty June Davis, also preceded him in death.

Mr. Davis retired from Owensboro High School as assistant custodian. He was a member of Crabtree Avenue Baptist Church, where he was a trustee. He was a veteran of World War, II.

Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Mary Davis; a stepson, Chuck Davis, Jr. of Ivesdale, IL; a stepdaughter, Betty Boyd of Philpot; three stepgrandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 24, 2002 at Glenn Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Reverend Mark Tong. Burial will follow in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery in Owensboro. His family will receive friends after 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
