Joseph R. J.R. Conley, 81, of Owensboro, passed on Saturday, March 12, 2005 at his home. Born May 13, 1923, Mr. Conley was retired from the T. J. Bartlett Gulf Oil Distributor where he was a transport truck driver. He enjoyed fishing, fixing lawn mowers, helping people, reading westerns, and especially spending time with his grandchildren and his faithful companion Buster. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Cecilia Louise Gentry and Belva Jean Bullock
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Myrtle Phegley Conley; three daughters, Ava Jo Conley of Owensboro, Linda Watts of Masonville, and Kay (and her husband Richard) Hall of Whitesville; five grandchildren, Franklin Lee Gillim II, Jeana Lynell Clater, Carolyn Kay Naegele, Amanda Jane Baird, and Tabatha Lane Hall; 8 great-grandchildren; a sister, Josephine Marie Edmondson of Yelvington; and a brother, James Ernest Conley of Michigan..
Funeral services are 2:30 P.M., Wednesday, March 16, 2005 at Glenn Funeral Home with burial in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 2-8 P.M. on Tuesday and after Noon on Wednesday.
