Joseph H. “Jody” Christian, 87, of Owensboro, passed away on Monday, March 9, 2026 at the Heartford House under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Kentucky. He was born December 25, 1938 in Daviess County to the late Charles L. and Dorothy Porter Christian. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at the age of 11 and was a member of Christ Community Church Jody, along with his brother Johnny, owned the former Town and Country Market at Reid Road and Highway 144. He also owned Christian’s Lawn Service for a number of years and had worked at National Southwire and Aluminum. Jody was a jokester and loved a good laugh and was always very thankful to people that did things for him. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren and loved his dog Bear very much.
Besides his parents, Jody was preceded in death by his wife of 67, Judy Christian on October 6, 2024; a son, Stephen Dale Christian on May 27, 2018; and his siblings, James, Gerald, and John Christian, and Elsie Velotta.
Surviving, are three sons, Tony Christian and wife Becky, Mark Christian and fiancé Trish, and David Allen Christian, all of Owensboro; three grandchildren, Amber Demoya (Ronald), Stephanie Chase, and Chandler Christian (Courtney), all of Owensboro; five great grandchildren and one on the way, Elijah, Evan, Malachi, Anaya, and Kobie; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 10 AM Thursday, March 12 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with burial following in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4 PM until 7 PM Wednesday and after 9 AM Thursday at the funeral home.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Jamie and Danielle of Cornerstone Caregivers and Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Kentucky for all the love and compassionate care they gave Jody.
