Joseph F. Blackham, III, 84, of Owensboro passed away after a prolonged illness on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at the Heartford House under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Kentucky. The Flushing, New York native was born May 23, 1940, to the late Joseph F. Blackham Jr. and Dorothea Bateman Blackham. Joe began work with G.E. and Lockhead-Martin and finished his education at Brescia University at age forty before retiring as a Process Engineer from M.P.D. He was a brilliant man who loved to learn and could fix and build just about anything. Joe was his wife’s rock, and they loved traveling all over the U.S. together while he enjoyed fishing when time allowed. Joe had an extremely optimistic attitude that matched his outgoing personality.
In addition to his parents, Joe also was preceded in death by his younger brother, John “Jack” Blackham. Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 45 years, Stasia Jenda Blackham; children, Joseph F. Blackham IV of Lexington, and Paul Blackham and wife Colleen of Minoa, NY; grandson, Logan Prince; sister, Judi Waldron of Port Jervis, NY; sister and brother-in-law, Robert and Victoria Meacham as well as other family members and friends who have been such a blessing to Stasia in caring for her husband.
A funeral Mass will be held at 9:00 am at Blessed Mother Catholic Church. Ennichement will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
