Joseph A. Aull, 76, of Philpot, passed away on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at his home. He was born on January 7, 1938 in Knottsville to the late Michael Xavier "Harry" and Mary Pauline Mattingly Aull. He also had lived in other cities including Hamilton, OH, Lewisport, Petersburg, IN, and then retiring to Philpot in 1988. Joseph was a member of Sts. Joseph and Paul Catholic Church and was retired from Triad Mining Inc. as an Executive Vice-President. He also had worked for Solar Sources, Inc. in Petersburg, IN as Vice-President and General Manager, L. R. Chapman in Lewisport as Superintendent and Engineer, and Johnson, Depp, and Quisenberry in Owensboro as a surveyor. His first job he had many years ago was at Murphy-Miller Chair Co. Joseph was a graduate of the former St. Williams High School in Knottsville. He was an avid golfer, U.K. basketball and Cincinnati Reds fan. He has touched many lives through his generosity and was a very beloved husband, Dad, and Papaw.
Joseph was also preceded in death by a son, Joey Aull on June 29, 1993, and seven brothers and sisters, Jack Aull, Jim Aull, Sister Margaret Joseph Aull, Elizabeth Miller, Beverly Clark, Thomas Charles Aull, and Hazel Ruth Aull.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Lena Ruth Hartz Aull, a son, Tim (Lisa) Aull of Philpot, four daughters, Lisa (Jerry) Huffman of Evansville, IN, Jackie (Mike) Mize of Florence, Terri (John) Wick of Owensboro, and Vickie (Kevin) Insko of Philpot, a daughter-in-law, Audrey Aull of Brentwood, TN, nine grandchildren, Wesley Aull, and Matt (Kelsey) Aull, all of Nashville, TN, Jason Huffman of Evansville, Billie Joe (Kim) Aull of Jasper, IN, Chassity (Josh) Evans of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., Zachary Aull of Philpot, and Joseph M., Jessica, and Jacob Insko, all of Philpot, seven great grandchildren, Joseph Crawford Aull of Nashville, Talena Huffman of Evansville, Hannah, Maggie, and Gavin Aull of Jasper, and Lilly and Fletcher Evans of Mt. Pleasant, two brothers, Bill Aull and Bob Aull, both of Philpot, and five sisters, Sister Naomi Aull of Mt. St. Joseph, Sister Marie Michael Aull of Whitesville, Mary "Tommie" Higdon, Joy Dunn, and Anna Carolyn "Cricket" Lyddane, all of Owensboro.
Services will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, September 27, at Sts. Joseph and Paul Catholic Church with burial following in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Friday and after 11:00 A.M. Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Prayers will be 7:30 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.
