Jonell Blanford Richeson, 77, of Owensboro passed away Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born January 6, 1940 in Owensboro to the late Joseph Leonard and Mary Ullinee Blanford. As a devout Catholic, Jonell's faith was a central part of her life, instilling those principles in her children and grandchildren. She was an alumnus of Owensboro Catholic High School and enjoyed volunteering at the OCHS phone-a-thon with her classmates. In her youth, she was a competitive athlete and held the Ladies City Championship title in tennis. Jonell was passionate about UK basketball, following every game. In recent years, she enjoyed knitting and sharing her many creations with friends and family. Jonell was a successful realtor for 30 years and especially enjoyed connecting with her clients, many of whom became close friends. She was a good friend to many and was a good listener. Jonell's greatest passion was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; following their sporting events, playing cards, and making summer visits. "Sugar" was always there for them.
She is also preceded in death by her brothers, Joseph Burnell Blanford and Herbert Anthony Blanford; her sister-in-law, Mary Lou Blanford.
Survivors include her daughters, Angie Klump (Jamie) of Owensboro and Rae Ann Sims (Jody) of Indianapolis, IN; her sons, Robert Richeson (Joy) of Centertown, KY and Billy Richeson of Nashville, TN; her grandkids, Jessica Martin (Lee), Bryan Klump (Laura), Julia Klump (Leo), Lindsey Klump, Audrey Sims, Nate Sims, Danny Richeson, Hannah Willinger (Marcus), Olivia Richeson, Jackson Richeson, Travis Blanchard (Rachel), and Autumn Blanchard; 6 great grandchildren; her sister, Beverly Hamilton (Brad); her brothers, Francis Donald Blanford (Mary Bea) and Robert Eugene Blanford (Marlene); her sister-in-law, Marilou Blanford; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral mass will be 10AM Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Immaculate Catholic Church. Fr. Tony Jones will officiate. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-8PM Monday with prayers beginning at 6PM at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory and 9AM until service time on Tuesday at the church.
The family has requested expressions of sympathy be made in the form of donations to Owensboro Catholic High School.
