John Allen Yager, 85, of Owensboro died Sunday, January 14, 2007. He was born March 29, 1921, in Owensboro to the late Pat and Maggie (Blair) Yager. He was the CEO of Yager Materials, LLC. He served on the board and as chairman of Citizen State Bank, on the board and as chairman of the Kentucky Sand & Gravel Association, on the board of the Kentucky Crushed Stone Association, where he was awarded as an honorary member, and also on the Owensboro, Daviess County Industrial Foundation. He was a World War II veteran and served in the Navy in the Pacific Theatre. He was a member of the Owensboro Country Club, Campbell Club, and the Naples Sail and Yacht Club. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and donated to many worth while causes in the community. He enjoyed golf, boating, working in his family business and being with family and friends.
Mr. Yager is survived by his wife of 58 years, Betty S. Yager, three sons, Pat Yager, Al and his wife Linda Yager, Jim and his wife Demetria Yager; seven grandchildren, John T. and his wife Elizabeth Yager, Tony Yager, Holly King, Madison Yager, Bailey, MacKenzie and Matthew Yager; three step grandchildren, Adam Montgomery, Chad and Ryan Watkins; and four great grandchildren, Preston, Jordan and Nolan King and Annalee Yager.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday and from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Glenn Funeral Home. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 1328 Griffith Ave, Owensboro, KY 42301.
