John Carl Wood, 81, of 208 Riverside Dr., Owensboro, passed away on Monday, June 5, 2006 at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born in Muhlenburg Co., Ky. to the late Shelby Davis & Hazel Arendell Wood. He was retired from Western Ky. Gas Co. and was of the Baptist faith. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II. He loved Nascar racing and had worked part-time at Don Moore Chevrolet picking up and delivering cars. He appeared in one of the first commercials made with Don Moore saying Its Hot Don. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence Wood and James Wood and two sisters, Lucille Knight and Grace Wills.
Surviving is his wife of 53 years, Clarice June Fentress Wood, a daughter and her husband, Carla & John Foshee of Shreveport, La., and two sisters, Ruth Fulkerson of Ennis, Ky. and Velma Cundiff of Bremen, Ky.
Services will be at 2:30 P.M. Thursday, June 8, at the Glenn Funeral Home Chapel with entombment following in Owensboro Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday and after 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
