John Ray Wagoner

May 19, 1926 — August 30, 2008

John Ray Wagoner, 82, of 3808 Riverside Dr., Owensboro, passed away on Saturday, August 30, 2008 at his home. He was born on May 19, 1926 in Hopkins Co., Ky. to the late John and Ida Mae Weir Wagoner. He was retired having worked for the L. R. Chapman Co., Green Coal Co., and Solar Sources for many years in the stripmining of clay and coal. He enjoyed Nascar, playing rook with his grandchildren, watching Western movies, and helping and checking on all his neighbors. He will be missed very much by all his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Surbatis Wagoner in September of 1995, a son, Robert Chris Wagoner in Nov. of 1970, and a sister, Pansy Ashby.

Surviving are his wife of four years, Glenna Deck-Wagoner, a son, John Ray Wagoner II and wife Alecia, and two grandchildren, John Joshua Wagoner and Anna Christen Wagoner, all of Aiken, S. C., a stepson, David J. Deck and two step grandchildren, Jason and Kyle Deck, all of Lewisport, two brothers, Bobby F. Wagoner, of Crofton, Ky., and Earline Wagoner of Bremen, three sisters, Neveline Harbaugh of Kettering, Oh., Joyce Martin of Providence, and Pearline Offutt of Madisonville, and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, September 2, at the Glenn Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be after 9:30 A.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 319 W. 10th. St., Owensboro, Ky. 42301.
